Overall, the food was good, but nothing truly surprised me or felt so memorable that I couldn’t imagine finding something comparable elsewhere. As many people recommended, the arancini, chickenn croquettes, and the butter ricotta gnocchi were standouts. In particular, the butter ricotta gnocchi was enjoyable because it’s not something you come across very often, which made it feel more special. That said, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant wasn’t particularly distinctive. If I were to return, it would likely be for the gnocchi rather than the experience as a whole.

I only enjoyed two dishes here but from their presentation and taste I can tell that every dish is made with love and a chef’s kiss. I enjoyed the gnocchi and spaghetti Al limone and I was filled with glee with each bite. The gnocchi was pillowy and in a delicate sauce. The caviar was a nice add but didn’t feel like it was necessary and the dish would still have been enjoyable without it. The spaghetti al limone was heavenly - light, delicate and rich. A simple dish yet the simplest dishes are often the hardest to execute and this one was executed to perfection. A dish that should not be overlooked. The dish left me speechless … I am so glad I ordered it. Excellent wine and drinks list. Try the wines from Piedmont. Everything compliments each other from food to drinks. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Sophisticated interior design. Everything makes you feel a part of something special here and that in life you got to treat yourself, be in community and share a meal or drink with someone. If you are a top chef fan you can’t miss adding Chef Karen A. to the list of top chef restaurants you must go to. Everything that Chef Karen creates is truly special.

Really good food. Tasty and they know to stop before it becomes too much. Everything was very good and needed nothing extra. The service was also lovely and quick. Their kitchen area is visible and spot clean. The venue itself is simple but trendy, great for small parties ot big parties. Probably a great place if you want to host an event. They should get a mention by Michelin. Maybe not a star (although I only tried 2 dishes so my opinion may be limited) but at the very least they should get a bib gourmand. Good luck Bar Volpe!

We ordered Tea Party cocktail, truffle roast chicken, culurgiones, riccotta gnocchi, farro arancini, tiramisu and cannoli. The pasta and chicken was good. Deserts not so much. Paid over $150.

My parents wanted to come down to Boston after Christmas. They decided they wanted "Italian." We did some research knowing we wanted to try something a bit different. We have not yet been to the southern parts of Italy, so Bar Volpe offered a different menu. Short version: We're very fortunate to travel a lot, and this was one of the best restaurant meals we've had in Boston in 2025. Cocktails: The Porcini Old Fashioned was interesting. I was very happy with the Negroni della Casa. Appetizers: We shared the stuffed, fried olives (Olives all'Ascolana) - My parents had never had anything like them before and loved 'em. The Bagna Cauda Broccolini was a fan favorite. And if you're into something a bit different with a spicy heat, the Shrimp Toast was pretty extravagant. The Fritti Misti was as advertised. Speaking for myself and my partner, the Heirloom & apple Endive Salad was surprisingly delicious - the endives were savory rather than bitter. I didn't get to taste my father's Beef Carpaccio, but those that did said it hit all the right notes without having to rely on culinary short cuts like truffle oil or piles of cheese. Pastas: Everything was great, and we tried some new types of "noodles." The Ricotta Gnocchi is seriously different than what we have loved in the Alto Adige, and it was delicious. Smooth, savory, and just a bit salty. The Malloreddus, a Sardian gnocchi, was super savory with a subtle saffron flavor in the ragu. The Spaghetti al Limone was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I'm probably forgetting something... Oh, the service: excellent. Our server Tony was great and played along well with my often sarcastic family. All of the staff was great. My sole complaint, which is common, was that - at times - the volume of conversations could be loud. I think that's just a factor of the large, open space. But, I would 100% eat there again, and hope to do so soon.

My first time eating at Bar Volpe, I loved how you could watch the lady make fresh pasta!! The bartender we had recommended two appetizers one was calamari with shrimp other was mussels, they were both excellent, we had two pasta dishes don’t know the name of them, but it was excellent, he recommended the tiramisu excellent, cappuccino gelato excellent. I was very impressed that he got the James Beard award, I will definitely be back. Thank you.

My husband and I ate at the smaller back bar for an early Saturday night dinner and we loved everything about the experience! We went in on a whim as walk-ins, so we had no expectations, but we will be back! We ordered the chicken croquettes, broccolini, ricotta gnocchi, culurgiones, and finished with orange mint Gelato. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and atmosphere. If they ever do brunch, the caviar sauce from the gnocchi as an eggs Benedict style dish would have me there every weekend!!
